Oops!

On Friday, February 4, I went to the cabin for a relaxing weekend. I opened the door to total chaos!

A large limb from a very large tree went crashing through the roof.

We had Emel Tree Service quickly remove the limb and tarp the roof to stop further damage. Thanks Joey!

And local contractors went quickly to work to repair the roof and interior

Now it is getting back to normal.

Velda was over there for 9 days supervising all the contractors and construction. During that time, Velda lost power for 16 hours and had snow and old temperatures. Her hair was still wet the day the power went off in the morning. Inside temps were low 50's. She had a candle light party all to herself. She used a tea light potpourri pot to heat artichoke dip which took 30 minutes and when that worked, she made water for hot tea which took an hour and a half.

Locke Association Dinner

We went to the Locke Association dinner on Sunday. We had not been for years. It gave Velda, Allison and James a reason to dress up in their Chinese clothes.

Velda gave James his first 'lay see' or red envelope. One lady said James looked like a little emperor. I said in Po Po's eyes he is.

Steamed fish. Velda's Mom made great steamed rock cod and bass in Yakima.

The menu said Peking Duck. I don't think this is Peking Duck. This is pigeon. Allison asked if these were parking lot or park pigeons on the platter. No, these are special pidgeons. Needless to say, Scott and Allison didn't nibble on these little birds.

And become reacquainted with old friends.
